 Dr. Ferdinand E. B. Samonte is a Filipino Obesity Surgeon and a Pioneer of the LAPBAND Surgery in the Philippines, having been trained in 2003, with both Basic and Advanced Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery (LAPBAND Surgery), by the world renowned and expert LAPBAND Surgeon Professor Paul O'Brien at the Avenue Hospital, Victoria, Melbourne Australia.

He also pioneered the non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical option for the treatment of obesity, the Endoscopic Bioenterics Intragastric Balloon (BIB) placement. He also organized workshops on the LAPBAND Surgery and Endoscopic (BIB) placement for a number of surgeons in Metro Manila, Philippines.
